Working and Waiting
Series: 2 Thessalonians: Living In Light Of The End
In chapter 2, Paul has warned us of this gathering storm prior to the final day. While encouraged by the victory of Jesus in the end, the days prior to the final day are important days that should not be ignored. How do we live in these days? Last week, Paul called us, even commanded us, to pray that the word of the Lord would speed ahead and to trust in the promises of God because he is faithful. With confidence in the Lord, and his work in us, we can obey his commands to live holy lives while we wait for Christ's return. This week, Paul will provide one final instruction to the church. He commands us to live disciplined lives, specifically in terms of our work and ministry of doing good with our lives. The end time does not engender idleness but a desire to be a good steward of our gifts and talents for the sake of others.
