Victory at Sea
Series: Exodus: The Redeeming of a People

In the aftermath of the Passover, Pharaoh was forced to submit to the one true God and allow Israel to leave. However, as the Israelites began their journey away from Egypt, God hardened Pharaoh's heart. He gathered his army and pursued the people with deadly intentions. When his army overtook Israel, the people faltered in faith, but God Himself fought for them. The pillar of cloud leading Israel stood between them and their enemies, and God commanded Moses to split the sea. When this miraculous act saved the people from Pharaoh, the people were moved to faith in God and His servant Moses. This passage shows us that God's deliverance is by grace and leads us to fear, believe, and serve God as worthy of all worship. This is ultimately evidenced in the grace of Jesus who died, was buried, and rose on the third day. The grace that leads us to worship is that while we were ungodly, Jesus delivered us from our sins (Romans 5:8).
