The Pure Gospel
Series: Galatians: No Other Gospel
Paul, finishing his report on the conflict with Peter, turns back to the Galatian churches. Paul is addressing a drift from the gospel. Following these false teachers, these Galatian churches added to the gospel additional works necessary for becoming right with God and each other. They became Christians through faith in Jesus, believing him to be the suffering servant, dying on a cross bearing the sins that separated them from God. They bought into a distorted gospel that was dangerously close to adding godly efforts to the cross of Jesus as essential to being in fellowship with God and others. Paul, using their own experience with the Spirit of God and the scriptures, proves the foolishness of their ways.
