The Beauty of the Church
Series: Rethinking the Church
Our passage is the high point of the entire letter. As we have learned, while this is a personal letter to Timothy on how to lead as a pastor, this letter functions as a book on church order for all generations of Christians, even to our day. In this passage, he offers a miniature theology of the church, reminding us of the nature of the church as well as its foundation. This opens our eyes to the beauty of God’s design for the glorious display of the church as God's household, as well as its foundation of Jesus and his gospel. He reminds us that our lives of holiness and worship of Jesus as the Messiah speak to the glory of God to a lost world.
