Seeking Joy in Suffering

Series: Psalms of the Sons of Korah

This week we are in Psalm 43, the second Psalm from the series in Psalms of the sons of Korah. Psalm 42 and 43 are very close together, both in their theme and in their content. Notice the repeated phrases in 42:5,11; 43:5 and 42:9; 43:2. But there are also significant unique elements to Psalm 43. In our text we will see the Psalmist give us a great example of how Christians should respond to trials in this life. In verse 1 he calls out to God and asks for vindication and deliverance. In verse 3 he asks God to bring him into His presence. And in verse 5 he closes with the "chorus" of 42/43 by calling on his own soul to hope in God. As you prepare for Sunday, consider your own response to adversity and suffering as you meditate on these questions.
