Out of the Land
Series: Genesis: The Beginning of a People

With his family now in Goshen, Joseph has fulfilled God's providential plan to save the people of God from the famine. But now, another question arises: How will Israel live in the land of Egypt while remaining distinct from them? Will God still bring the Seed from the line of Abraham to bless the nations? In today's passage, we will see how the sons of Jacob were intent on fulfilling God's promise to preserve their family as a distinct people, and how Jacob's revived faith gave him boldness and comfort before rulers and death. There is an encouraging and challenging word for us here, as people of God, to consider how to live in the world, but not be enslaved to it.
