Mission of Mercy
Series: Sermons (Non-Series)
As Jesus finished his public ministry in Galilee, he set his face to go to Jerusalem where he knew that he would die to bear the penalty of sin. On the first stop of the journey, he entered a Samaritan village and was rejected, unable to stay with them because of longstanding religious animosity with the Jews. Zealous for Israel and eager for the new kingdom of God, James and John wanted to call down fire from heaven to wipe out the Samaritan village. Jesus, undeterred by the Samaritan's rejection, rebukes the disciples for their misunderstanding of the kingdom and continues toward Jerusalem. This passage displays Jesus' mission to bring salvation to all the nations as he journeys to Jerusalem for the sake of Jews & Samaritans who need his mercy.
