Mary's Song

In Luke’s Gospel there are several songs associated with the coming of Jesus as promised by God in the Old Testament. We will look at these songs of praise to better understand Christmas. Our song today is by Mary, the mother of Jesus. She had been visited by an angel sent from God whose name was Gabriel. He explained that she would be the mother of the Messiah, the Savior of the world and the Son of the Most High. In her song of praise she exalts God for his grace in bringing redemption in the Messiah. Consider how the glorious character of God as revealed in this song leads to worship, joy, and fear of God as both good and holy.
