Love for God's World
Series: Vision Sermons
In our sermon this week we will finish up our series covering our mission statement, which is: Christ Covenant exists to love God's glory, so that we can love God’s people, and go out in love to serve God's world. Sunday we will look at Luke 14:15-24 and consider how loving God’s glory will lead us to loving God’s world. Jesus uses a parable about a man who hosts a great banquet and invites many guests, but when the time comes for the party, they all make excuses about why they cannot attend. In their place, the master invites the lowly of the community to come and enjoy the feast. In this we see the kindness and severity of God. Kindness because God loves those that society views as being unlovable, and severity because those who make excuses and find their joy in the wrong things will be cut out of His kingdom.
