Longing to Feast
Series: Longings in Isaiah
The bible has much to say about the life to come, both judgment of the proud and deliverance of the weak. In chapter 24, Isaiah speaks of God’s divine judgment on the world. This judgment will be no respecter of persons. This judgment, however, is not the end of the story. As Isaiah breaks into song in chapter 25, we see a captivating vision of God’s victory over sin and death leading to life forevermore. He gives us this promise so that we are a people waiting and longing for him. Advent is a season in the church calendar reminding the people of God to be a people waiting, first for a Messiah to come and save. Now that Jesus has come, we are still in a season of Advent, or waiting. But now, we are waiting for God to make all things new by swallowing death and bringing us to himself in glory and joy.
