Jesus Satisfies the Hungry
Series: Miracles of Jesus
This is our last in a summer study of the miracles of Jesus in the gospel of Mark. As you now know, the purpose of a miracle was not simply to deliver someone from the physical struggles of the day, but to reveal something about Jesus and his kingdom. We are meant to see that he is not simply a Shepherd king but that his kingdom is a kingdom of glory that pushes back the dominion of darkness, where sickness, disease and death have reigned since the fall. In the feeding of the 5000, Jesus is revealed as one who is compassionate in our struggles, gloriously powerful in our needs, and sufficient to provide rest for our souls, even in the wilderness.
