Jesus Restores the Leper
Series: Miracles of Jesus
We are continuing our study in Jesus' miracles in the gospel of Mark. Keep in mind miracles are used by our Lord not simply to create excitement but to reveal truths about salvation and the kingdom of God. Miracles are "like parables portraying the effects of the Spirit’s work among the people". So in this case, leprosy was a disease that reminded everyone of the nature of sin and the brokenness and death it brings to our world. Jesus cleanses the leper to show us his power to restore us, though broken, to an image bearer of God. As you read the passage, note the desperate condition of the leper and the delight of the Savior to heal and restore. Consider our own need to be restored from the brokenness of our own lives and look to the One who came to save and make whole.
