Jesus Came to Forgive Sinners

In this Advent series we have been looking at the reasons for Jesus coming in the flesh to dwell among us.  We have heard how he came to defeat the works of the devil, bring freedom to captives, and put death to death. Today, he has come to seek and save the lost. Jesus like a good  shepherd, comes to seek and save the lost to heal and save. This story occupies a very serious place in Luke’s account of Jesus’ life. It is his last personal encounter and the climax of his ministry before he enters his final week of ministry leading to his death.  This last encounter shows the mercy of Jesus and the power of the gospel in a great sinner finding forgiveness and joy in a glorious salvation.
