Jesus Came to Bring Freedom to the Captives
Series: The Glories of the Incarnation
Luke’s gospel is just what we need, good news for the poor, weak, and broken. As you may know Luke’s gospel was written to a man named Theophilus, or lover of God. He was writing to give a historical and theological account of the life of Jesus. Our passage picks up with Jesus’ ministry beginning in his hometown of Nazareth. It sets the stage for the whole gospel revealing Jesus as God’s anointed one, promised in Isaiah, who would bring glad tidings of joy and hope to the world. In this passage, we see how and why he came in flesh, like us and for us.
