Jesus Came as the Light

We are introduced to John, not the gospel writer, but John the Baptist, who comes as a witness to Jesus, the true light. John is sent by God to prepare the people for Jesus’ ministry, and God sends John to testify or bear witness so that all people might believe through him. While some reject the very Word of God, others believe and become children of God. Jesus will save a people to and for himself. John reminds us that all this is from God.
