Jesus Came as the Lamb of God
Series: The Light Has Come
We have seen already that John the Baptist is a herald, preparing the people for Jesus by giving eyewitness testimony. You see this passage has bookends with this idea of giving testimony to Jesus (see verses 19 and 34). While many titles are given to Jesus, two interest us here: He comes as the Lamb of God to purify and bring forgiveness, and He comes as the Son of God to sanctify and renew His creation through His Spirit. Simply put, He came to save us and change us. All this comes to us from John as a witness.
