How the Nations Rage

In Psalm 2, David describes how the nations rage against God, desiring to break away from his authority and rule based on their own wisdom and what their wicked hearts desire. In his sovereignty, God laughs from heaven for the vanity of the nations. He had already decreed that his son would inherit and rule the nations. True wisdom and joy for the nations is found in serving the Lord with fear and submitting to his authority with joy.
