God's Grace in the Life of C.S. Lewis
Series: Biographical Sermon
Since 2004, I have preached one biographical sermon per year on a saint whose grace marked life has had an impact on the church and/or world. I do this for a number of reasons. First, it is scriptural. God places the saints of old before us as examples in life and faith. Listening to their lives helps us persevere like them. Second, it is pastoral. We see God’s grace in the lives of flawed saints which encourages us in faith. God’s glory is often best seen not in our strengths but in the weaknesses of his people. Finally, it is instructional. It helps us understand the expansive nature of God’s grace across the pages of history.
