From Prison to Palace
Series: Genesis: The Beginning of a People

This is the grand turning point in the story. As you remember, Joseph had two dreams that showed his rise to prominence as a ruler (37). He told his brothers about these dreams and ended up in slavery. After this he was a blessing to Potiphar and his house as a servant made manager. Unjustly and falsely accused, he ended up in prison (39). There he met two high ranking officials who had 2 dreams which he interpreted. He asked the cupbearer (the baker was executed) to remember him, but he forgot Joseph (40). But God was with him and fulfilled the dreams given to Joseph in his youth (37) as he is raised to second in charge only to Pharoah. He is lifted from prison to the palace. This is not a personal victory story, but rather a story about God raising up a servant to bring salvation to the nations and good to his people.
