An Unexpected Savior

Most sermons on this passage focus on Jephthah and his vow. You know how much I hate to disappoint you but I will take another path. As you read the whole text consider the nature of God and his immeasurable patience and mercy to repeatedly wayward people. His mercy may come in unexpected ways but it is sure, certain and saving.  It is fitting on Father’s Day that we consider the character of God as our Father so that we might be led by his Spirit to worship and serve him with all our lives.
