A Tragic Victory
Series: Judges: A Dawning Hope in Darkness
Judges 16 introduces us to the second and final part of Samson's life. It is no accident that he begins in Gaza, for this is where he returns as a captive to deal his most devastating blow to the Philistines through his own death. Judges 16 is about Samson becoming a living picture of Israel's blindness, and yet we see his willingness to offer his life so as to begin to save Israel from the hands of the Philistines. In his life and death, we see a foreshadowing of a greater and eternal deliverance to come.
