A Prayer to Finish Well
Series: 1 Thessalonians: A Hope That Endures
In the previous passage, Paul explained how to stay awake and be sober minded while we wait for the glorious return of Jesus. There were a number of commands ranging from following leadership, caring for one another, rejoicing in all things and discerning the work of God’s Spirit in our lives. Even back in chapter 4, there were commands to live in purity and work diligently. Many read these and feel overwhelmed wondering if they can do it. In this closing section, Paul gives us confidence to press forward in faith, resting in the promises that God who is faithful will make us new. While we are called to engage in this new life of faith, it will be God who works in us and through us to finish well.
