A Community Well Served
Series: God's People Gathered

This Sunday we conclude our series on the church with the office of deacon. Similar to the qualifications for elders, Paul focuses on the godly character of candidates for this role. Deacons, as the word itself indicates, serve the church by attending to the practical needs of the body under the leadership of the elders, so that our unity is preserved and our mission remains central. Deacons are critical to the health of the church. As servants, they reflect the One who became a servant (Romans 15:8), the One who came to serve by giving his own life (Matthew 20:28).
