7 Two things I ask of you;
deny them not to me before I die:
8 Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that is needful for me,
9 lest I be full and deny you
and say, “Who is the Lord?”
or lest I be poor and steal
and profane the name of my God.
Summary: Money is on the minds of most people most of the time. It is also a hot topic in the Bible. In fact, more is spoken about wealth than most any other topic, including heaven and hell. What wisdom does the Bible, specifically the book of Proverbs, offer on the topic of wealth? First the Bible speaks winsomely to the goodness of wealth, encourages a wise pursuit of it, warns us of the subtle dangers, and finally reminds us of how to use it wisely.
