Worship Guide for November 26

November 24, 2023

Prepare for Sunday morning worship by using the guide below.

1 John 1:5-7

This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

Summary: How can we have confidence before God that we are genuine Christians? How can we have rich fellowship with other believers? John provides a remedy in both these areas by encouraging obedience to Christ's commands. Those who truly know God walk in the light, as He is in the light. And those that walk in the light enjoy Christian fellowship with other saints. This fellowship we have with one another is God-given and is a means God uses in our lives to fight sin and grow in holiness. Thank the Lord that through Christ we have fellowship with Him and one another.

How does the promise to be cleansed of all sin by Jesus encourage you to walk in the light?

Is there any sin in your life that you have yet to confess or repent of (answer this rhetorically or in gender-specific groups)?
