Worship Guide for December 29

December 27, 2024

Prepare for Sunday morning worship by using the guide below.

1 Peter 4:7-11

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Watch the Sermon

Summary: At the end of most years, we have a topical sermon instead of our usual expositional sermon series. The goal in taking a break from our regular diet is to focus in on one particular idea and see what God has to say about that topic. This Sunday we will be studying 1 Peter 4:7-11 and looking at the need for one another in the church. As you prepare for worship this Sunday, coming off the excitement of Christmas, have you thought about what you hope to get out of 2025?

Review & Apply

Do you find it easy or challenging to show up on Sunday morning each week? What is the biggest hurdle? What is the biggest draw?

The passage begins with "the end of all things is at hand; therefore... ." With that big of a purpose statement, what would you expect to come next? What does Peter say to do?

How essential is the church in your life?

What do you think it means to be "stewards of God's varied grace"? How could you grow in your stewardship?

Why do you think Peter ends this paragraph with a benediction?
