Worship Guide for September 11

September 08, 2022

Prepare for Sunday morning worship by using the guide below.

1 Timothy 3:14-16

14 I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that, 15 if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth. 16 Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:

He was manifested in the flesh,
    vindicated by the Spirit,
        seen by angels,
proclaimed among the nations,
    believed on in the world,
        taken up in glory.

livestreamupdatedSummary: Our passage is the high point of the entire letter. As we have learned, while this is a personal letter to Timothy on how to lead as a pastor, this letter functions as a book on church order for all generations of Christians, even to our day. In this passage, he offers a miniature theology of the church, reminding us of the nature of the church as well as its foundation. This opens our eyes to the beauty of God’s design for the glorious display of the church as God's household, as well as its foundation of Jesus and his gospel. He reminds us that our lives of holiness and worship of Jesus as the Messiah speak to the glory of God to a lost world.
