Jesus Came to Serve

We have been considering the question, "Why did Jesus come to live among us?"  We have seen his coming was to save sinners, give abundant life and to serve us. Mark (10:35-45) and Matthew's (20:20-28) gospel records that Jesus challenges our views of greatness. True greatness or real greatness is not in being served but in serving and giving of oneself. This is counterintuitive to most, and yet Jesus modeled it perfectly and completely in giving himself as a ransom to save us from sin and shame.  As you consider this Christmas season, please give thought to seeing greatness in the light of Jesus and his willingness to suffer and die for us to know and enjoy the abundant life of God.
